View Full Version : Hey seb how about a nam armour pack?
SEB
you NAM pack rox, now how about some NAM era armoured vehicles???
I know armor was not used to the extent it was in WW2 but they did have armor on both sides and it was used in some of the major city fighting.

we have had plans for one for a few months and will be including the .cpp's for armour in the upcoming pack, which will use bis models to start with and will be replaced when we complete the models/texturing, so far in there is:
M113A1
M551
M48A3
M60A1
LVTP-5
T-54
PT-76
SU-76
ZSU-57-2
T-34/85
Type 63 AA
K-63
BTR-50PK
these wont have any texture changes or model changes apart from using a new crew, they are as realistic as humanly possible though, about 1/2-2/3's of the models are finished and waiting texturing, but unfortunately, not being superhuman i think we may need a small rest before starting on any modules http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Until then at least we have the current BIS made M60 that can be used to simulate the M60A1 model along with the M113 which looks fairly close to what was used in Vietnam.
The Vulcan AA system was also used, but I'm not sure if it looked like what we see in OFP.
Finally if I'm not mistaken I believe the NVA had some T-55's which I seem to remember smashing through the U.S. embassy gates in Saigon when Saigon fell. So T-55's will be good to use.
So yeah it'll rock to see in OFP some of the armor listed by Evi. But new tanks are very difficult to create so I wouldn't hold your breath that these will all come out soon. But hopefully at least some of the cooler ones (like the PT-76 and the Sheridan light tank) will come out before the years out.
But... I'd rather see some more aircraft like the F-105 Thunderchief (The Thud), and the A1 Skyraider first. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

the vulcan is in there too, i just forgot to list it, the T55 isnt really needed, i think the only change was something to do with the commander cupola? or something like that, the T-54 will do the same job and was probably used marginally more, we also plan an Air pack somewhere along the scale of this armour pack we just havent quite decided what will go into it, also out of the 13 vehicles ive mentioned in that list only the K-63/M551/LVTP-5 have not been modelled the big job is texturing them and finishing off interior models, also all the cpp's are finished to the realistic standard we need so a lot of the work is already done, out before the end of the year? hmmm not sure, the modules are probably going to be somewhere near the scale of the new nam pack, we also want to release them all in one go instead of trickling them (it helps mission makers greatly as if someone has, say, the nam pack PT-76 they also have 10-15 more vehicles you can use)

yup that does make sense, i have a mission i am sitting on because it needs armor and i absolutely refuse to use vehicles that were not from that era. The T-55 and the M-60 are too nice and modern to be used in nam missions. i have released one mission using the helos and the infantry units though, you can download it here:
