Yeah I was wondering that also. It looks kinda cheezy with the name of the person who made the model or the textures on the side. If they want their name on it, it should be somewhere in small letters like inside or somewhere where it doesn't stick out like that. Otherwise it just looks very bad.
But other then that, I really like how it looks. Keep up the excellent work!

Nope. It is impossible. We're thinking of making animated cargo door in future versions. And now it is only people cargo version.
The first beta will be out soon but betatest will be not public. The public beta (or maybe a full release) will be out in 1-2 weeks. I suppose. It all depends on my laziness http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

2 Pilots ? Hmmm.. Maybe one pilot and one copilot.

Oct 5 2002, 18:11
like the c130, it comes stock with one pilot, so just have those extra 4 seats ready and the person playing the game can just add the men himself, its not that hard at all. when I use the c130 I just add the extra 2 man crew as cargo, and the real cargo is just a whole other group with a different commander, they are going to be paratrooping anyways.

Oct 5 2002, 18:14
I don't like when you get in as cargo, you go to the cabin. If someone made a 747 like that (4 crewmen in cabin) it would just ruin the whole point of a passenger jet considering most pilots don't let people into the cabin...

[CCCP]Stalker
Oct 5 2002, 18:27
On pilot, on gunner and maybe one commander + 2 extra seats in the cockpit shpuld be OK.

Eviscerator
Oct 5 2002, 18:51
putting a commander in an air vehicle really doesnt work, me and frandsen made a uh-60 with a commander as well as a gunner and pilot, and the pilot freaked out, the helicopter span round and round, with the player as pilot noone listened to him, it was pretty much hell http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

thats why you fill up those cabin seats with crew, then when you get in as cargo you sit in a seat. ive never seen a 747 fly with just a pilot, its ruining the whole point of a realistic aircraft.

Exactly, xmurderx is right.

I suggest that you make seats for pilot and gunner, make the three extra crew seats as normal seats. Rest is up to mission maker if he want's to fill up those three extra seats with pilots as cargo to make his mission more realistic http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. And like Evis said, commander won't work right in chopper.

True, but if there are already 4 crew members in the plane, then you just go to the regular passenger section.
But it's either that or a 747 would have a "gunner" on it, and there still would be no way to stick in the other crew positions accept as cargo or models that are actually part of the airplane model itself..but then they wouldn't move.
Personally I prefer for large cargo or passenger aircraft to have just the pilot 2-3 crew positions (as cargo) and then the regular passenger slots (as cargo) in the cargo or passenger section of the aircraft.
Like I said, if the crew is in the plane alraedy, then you don't have to worry about regular civilians ending up in the cockpit.
Plus it would be kinda pointless to get into an the cargo/passenger section of an empty plane with no crew.

Yup! I remember seeing a pic of a Mi-26 lifting a damaged Chinook in Afghanistan and indeed the Mi-26 was MUCH bigger then the Chinook. That thing is a monster! It basically carries almost as much as a C130 cargo plane and isn't a whole lot smaller either.

Mi26 is the BIGGEST chopper in the world like "Mriya" (Dream) is the biggest plane in the world. BTW the factory where it has been created is not very far from my house http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (I'm talking about "Mriya"). Where have you seen a chopper which survive a single LAW hit ? Mi26 crashed after a single "Strela" rocket.

well there was the chinook in Afghanistan that survived a hit from a RPG, so since the Mi26 is twice or maybe 3 times the size of of the chinook maybe it could survive maybe 2 possibly 3 rpg type weapons? it all depends on what type of armor it uses and the structeral integraty (spelling) of the Mi26.

The Blackhawks in BHD survive RPGs too, remember the one flying back to base...

It all depends on where the damage is taken. A direct hit would surely take down those choppers. In those cases you have stated, they were lucky not to of been bought down because they didnt hit any vital stuff.
'Stingers' target the heat source, which would be the engine vents etc this is not easy to protect with armour. Above and around the engine are the rotars. Any damage to the rotars also would be catastrophic for any helicopter. A chance hit by an RPG into the main bulk of the body would more than likely bring it down also. You are wrong to think that double the size equates to more armour and protection of a machine.
Nice model, I look forward to shooting it down http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Yeap. All AA missile target the heat source. We will make the armour to survive after 1.5 "Strela"\"Stinger" hits.

It is a big machine , it can carry something like 90 fully eqipped troops.

Are you sure it was not a MI6 you saw?

Marshman,

Speaking as an ex-CH47 pilot, and having been inside a Mi26, I have to say that I think the scaling of the model looks about right. The Chinook is indeed impressive - shame no add-on maker has worked out how to put a minigun on each side and one on the ramp as we had in 1991 - but the Mi26 simply takes your breath away.

Oh, and a big thanks to the gentleman who posted the photo of the Hastings being lifted - my dad flew that one during the Berlin Airlift; he was delighted to see the picture.

After looking at this pic and comparing it to the ingame shot, I can safely say that they are the same scale.

Look at both pics where ppl's heads are in relation to the chopper, the entry door starts at someone's face, just like the RL one.

I think the scale is good, but what makes me think it's too big is the left side door, it's a bit too wide. In the RL pics, the door is wide enough for one guy, but in OFP pic, it's wide enough for 1.5 men.

Maybe left door is too big, but while model scale is about right: on picture with snow & soldiers, first gear is "sealin" in snow little... maybe....
