View Full Version : Landcontact
Ok, so I have a model in game and working, stopping bullets, but letting you run inside it, but not through the walls, etc. etc. The only problem is that the bottom of it does not touch the ground if you put it onto a slope. On perfectly flat ground however it touches the ground at all four corners
In the LandContact LOD what I had basically done was copy the vertexes from the bottom of the object and pasted them into that LOD, thinking that the game engine would just make it so that those ones were always touching the ground, but this does not seem to work, so I was wondering what else I needed to do. Everything else works fine, apart from the LandContact apparently.
I hope someone knows how to fix this http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
LandContact LOD is used only for vehicle simulation. From you description ("letting you run inside it, but not through the walls") I assume you are talking about some building. For buildings this is done differently. OFP places your building model so that point with coordinates (0,0,0), i.e. origin, lies directly on the ground. If your model is flying, try moving it down a little bit in O2 (be sure to move all LOD levels).
Ah. Ok, thanks http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
this is the problem I am getting now -

Its not a PROBLEM!!! Its a FEATURE http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
OFP engine (thanks God) doesnt change the inclination angle of a buiding if the ground is inclined - immagine that PillBox inclined by 25° http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
And PLEASE make that picture SMALLER!!!

Yes, but for example the 'wood fence' objects will stick to the ground and use the angle of the slope they are on, if you know what I mean, and that is what I was wanting to do

Please make sure we can look out the view slots, not like the fort http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
yeah, you can, but there is still the problems with the slopes which it seems are not going to be resolved anytime soon http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
I have finished making it and it is uploaded at my site, though. I still wish I could fix the slope problem though
Why don't you give it steps or something? That way ground may still cut through it but that will just mean less steps to climb http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
ah....good idea actually http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Don't rush it to release stuff, dammit http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
We should beta test it...
lol, don't worry, there is not much testing that needs to be done on a solid box http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You never know... AI might freak out when they see it and start firing rifles at it ... or something other unexpected.
Then there's the opportunity for everyone to suggest [not bugs but] improvements, like the stairs for example. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Oh, don't worry, there are more in the pipeline which will take people's ideas into consideration
