Is 4500 polys for a plane ok ?

Im made an F-15, and its pretty detailed...its 4500 polys right now...might a few little details..so it go up to 5000. tell me if thats ok. or tell me whats ok..and when will it start lagging. Whats the most , whats the limit that i should i stay away from ?
