Looks like a shotgun. Cool. And theres obviously alot of detail going into the buildings and terrain objects. Check the water tower out http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It aint much, but its something.

yeah it looks good

with some very sharp photos and a good model plus the right file format for skinning you also can get the same effect.

Actually, this isn&#39;t all that true. A 2ghz comp will run VBS just fine in its current state. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Look at resistance, with high terrain detail no one can have visuability over 3000 though it goes to 5000.
You can just turn the graphics down a bit and you can run it on a 400Mhz with geforce 2 MX 200...
I bet the same goes for VBS.
Isnt VBS used for by the US marines to have something to do while they´re on a boat? If VBS would require a mega computer the marines would probably not be able to play it, I doubt that they get the newest most powerful computer every time a better one is available.

Aug 1 2002, 13:45
No they don&#39;t, but when they upgrade they upgrade to much higher than what&#39;s possible with a single processor at the time... so they are set for a long time.

And actually VBS MIGHT be configured in such a way that client machines only do graphics, sound, and input processing and the server does all the simulation calculations. This is a standard for real military simulator software, it&#39;s server based. This can only be done with very fast networks... so it would be pretty bad if you were online and saw the chopper move every 0.3 - 2 seconds.

You really need a LAN for that.

Aug 2 2002, 10:13
Well, at my old base they only dumped their 286&#39;s in 1998 when they upgraded to 266mhz. Kinda wierd how slow they were.

Want to hear a sad fact? RUSSIAN Tank simulators have BETTER Graphics than U.S. Simulators.

Noone knows, atm. Most likely, VBS will not be released to the public. However, there has been speculation that the upcoming Independence Lost is sort of a VBS lite made for the public

we got some of VBS stuffs in OFP and OFPR. i think laser designator was part of VBS.

some time ago, there was some pics of marines peeking through a broken part of wall section. now we have that in OFPR(ex. walls west of Velka Ves)

And in Lipany, and maybe a few other places. I also think the castle ruins kick ass.

Maybe we dont need VBS in its entirety, but BIS should at least release more of the cool features of it for OFP. The AW50, aircraft carriers, some of the infantry models, the LAV, etc. We need more of that.

Hi

There are lots of things I&#39;d want to see in future versions or upgrades of OFP, mostly the inclusion of new scripts to do stuff to make the game more flexible. Like:

- being able to order a subordinate to drop or give you whatever he or she is carrying

- being able to drop or give away whatever you are carrying.

- being able to swim, (if you drop enough stuff)

- being able to land on helipads destoyers and frigates

- making the warrant, radio, the gps, watch and other map items droppable too. And the map.

- making radios in jeeps, field radios etc. function when you are at them.

Ok, they&#39;re just a few of my wishes/ desires for OFP. There are loads more, but that I&#39;ll do for now.

It is not a question of if WE need or want. It is a question of how badly do YOU need or want us to spend OUR money on YOUR next game&#33; http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Look out for VBS1 (what a surprise), &#39;USMC Infantry Tool Kit&#39; and &#39;USMC Distributed Virtual Training Environment&#39;. You might find some interresting things, eg. non-lethal weapons and training for forward observers: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">ITK-FO incorporates target and observation post location, the Call For Fire (CFF), adjustment of fires (initially field artillery, but later followed by the incorporation of mortars, Naval Surface Fire Support, close air support), and damage assessment.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'> http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

let me add my wisdom.( http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )

VBS, as you know, is used by USMC. what does that mean? it means it&#39;s handled by DoD or corresponding bureacratic agency that is related to USMC. what does that mean? well, for anyone interested, AFAIK, any contractors of DoD has to have some sort of security clearance and that means back ground check and etc. on top of that, any talk about it in public places are restricted.

my math TA once talked to guys from Raytheon, and first thing that recruiter asked was, &#39;Do you have clearance?&#39; http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

since VBS is contracted to USMC, DoD would have imposed some limit on BIS, so they cannot comment much on it. but taking a look at how stuffs from VBS came to OFPR, I say we need to wait and let BIS not get in trouble with DoD.

and we got O2 now, so we can make all sorts of stuffs. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
