Why did OFP pick LST's those huge tank landers with the huge thing in the front to let em land? People wanna be able to land on the ships an junk like that, my idea would be to make lha's and CV's and maybe a cvn wher u can land helos, and planes (regular planes on cv's and cvn's, and harriers on the lha's and lhd's). Another thing that would be nice is to have tanks, (and being able to land em) on hostile shores via the LST's.

*sigh*
The LST is purely the for eyecandy, nothing else. Why do you even want to land a plane, when its out of ammo its useless anyway.

Sure let's just put fighters on the carriers too so you can fly over the island in less than a second.

The carriers have bombers, those uav's and other kewl stuff, just put ur mind behind the fighters, speccialy since the best AA fighting is witht the 30 mm cannons on the helos.

Oh, did i mention that LHA's AND LHD's have Lcacs , landing boats, and those amphibous tanks? I think the ship role in this game would be better played by the lha's and lhd's. and the lhd's carry harriers whic are small, and don't go fast, so they would be great for beach assults

I thnink no one understood a word of that.
But I agree on more anphibious units, the LCAC is on the top of my list.

Carriers have bombers? Name one. The only one I can think of is the FA/18 which is a fighter-bomber.

A-6 Intruder, not many left but still a few in service, and they were THE fleet attack unit in the 60's 70's and 80's

Aw man, if we had functional LHD's, that would open up so many possibilities!

the landing craft well...

Of course, you have to equip the Russians with some news toys, like the Ivan Rogov.

oh..did i mention, helos? the marine corps us lha's and lhd's for their cobras, and the chinook. For bombers, Im hearin the they are able to use s-3 vikings as small bombers, prowlers as bombers(harm antiradiation missles), the a-6 intruder, the f-18, the f-14 (tomcat and bombcat) the sea hawk, and the sea stallion are airplanes on board that can carry missiles and or bombs.

I posted the same idea for having a aircraft carriers the only thing is it wouldn't be good for bombers because this isn't a plane sim it doen't have the hook on the plane to slow it down when it's landing. I can garantee most ppl would end up landing their planes into the water.

I was thinking more tword harriers which go slower, and land verticalty

Maybe if BIS decides to make planes like that. Did they have those in the 1980s though?

Falklands go for UK. But yes - US had Harrier in 1985 - in Marine Corps.

Be nice if they used our (british) smaller carriers (as opposed to the bloody great stateside things). Plus sea harriers are a different gravy compared to the av8b thingies (in looks terms anyways).

The best solutions:

LHA/LPH: These ar used to transport Marines, their aircraft, and their ground weapons. Seriously, the A10 and Su25 suck in OFP - why would we want F/A-18s and F-14s? They'd fly across the island in 30 seconds. The Harrier is a great aircraft in OFP terms.

Ivan Rogov: A good Soviet assault ship. Carried Mi-24s for some of it's tours.

Invincible class for the UK. Or would the Hermes be better? It was still around in '85, right?
