Ok i have been messing around also with vister 3 and have got all the way up to importing the mask and sat texture and every time it freezes..I have fallowed this to the T and dont get it.. Now it could be that i re-sized the map to 40km by 40km but haven't a clue.
My project parameters Are as fallows

Terrain grid size 2048 by 2048

Terrain Cell Size 20.0
I have only one texture and that is sand...So mask and sat was simple both 2048 by 2048 pixels as well
But every time i go to load them it freezes..I have went over the config and everything 1000 times..Confused any help would be greatly appreciated..

Hi ,
Maybe a little tip , you spent some time trying to make map but only 1 minute try to explain your problem , this kind of ratio not really going to speed up your fix ;)

I have fallowed this to the T and dont get it
Followed what exactly ?

Now it could be that i re-sized the map to 40km by 40km but haven't a clue
your saying you had a smaller version that worked ?
what did you do to resize it ?

I have only one texture and that is sand
so you should have a very simple layer config to show here , maybe its a problem
are you really sure its only one colour ?

Terrain grid size 2048 by 2048

Terrain Cell Size 20.0

did you look at the
tools/ project parameters /
is the satelite segment valid still ? what is it ?

what is the current satelite grid from there also ?

oh snap it didnt show my link lol ..
http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=1576

Above is what i fallowed to a T except for the Sand texture files..

class Layers
{

class pisek
{
texture ="MyMap\Data\ibr_dsand_mco.paa";
material="MyMap\Data\ibr_Dsand.rvmat";
};

};

class Legend
{
picture="MyMap\Source\MapLegend.png";
class Colors
{
/// color names should correspond to surface layer names
pisek[]={{255,255,0}};
}
};

I know there is a Cappitbale D in there as well thats what the the texture files is called
Texture files

ibr_Dsand.rvmat
ibr_dsand_detail_co.paa
ibr_dsand_deatail_nopx.paa
ibr_dsand_mco.paa

I even went threw and changed my revmat so it would see it still freezes

ahh it says Invalid on the satellite segment? whats that mean
also 393153 is the Satellite segment
and sattilite grid is 393153
base is active[COLOR="Silver"]

Update..Got all that taken care off and my textures are in :) but now when i put buildings in it cant find the textures..wont open them .lol ill keep messing with er so close

Main problem is you can't use icebreakers tag or u will mess his islands up .
So you need to fix that and if u have permission then go back to other problem :)

You are using his tag ibr_. You must use your own too eliminate conflict , in this case terrain clutter , goto ofpec.com and register own tag or get permission from icebreaker to use his .

Ok the map im making is for nothing.Testing my brain persay..it is so i can figure out the correct steps then make my own..
Just to see if i can even do it..
Its just a random texture file i found to see if the steps even worked.Dont plan on using it ..i plan on making my own texture..almost done with my own texture anyhow and planed on adding my own tag..i just wanted to see how easy it was to do the steps.. All im trying to do is learn the steps..Then when im comfortable i will start to make a map map for the community. witch will be hopefully after i can see if i did the steps right ..

The beginners guide you followed is a little out of date...

You might be better starting off by working your way through THIS ONE (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?124623-Bush-s-Geotypical-Microterrains-Source-Files-amp-Beginners-Guide)
There's a full set of source files available to match.... that tutorials designed specifically to help you get the latest tools installed correctly, then take you through all the steps you need to follow to get the sample terrain in-game - file-by-file explanation of the basics with that one...

Once you've done that you should be in a good position to have a go with some of your own material...

At that stage, or even before, you'll want to read Mondkalb's Terrain Tutorial (http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Mondkalb's_Terrain_Tutorial) as well...

Between these two up-to-date tutorials you should have a much easier time of getting a grasp on the basics and then proceeding to your own project idea...

Good luck!
