Today we present you with a Release Candidate of Downtown Patch (1.06), which also includes Take On Helicopters: Rearmed (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?132627-Take-On-Helicopters-Rearmed). This version only works from the 1.05 patched version. We are mostly looking for showstoppers (e.g. installation errors). As opposed to previously released beta patches (http://takeonthegame.com/download/beta-patches/), this should automatically enable the merged content.

This update will modify your existing game installation.
Rollback to previous version is not possible.
Upgrading to the final 1.06 patch also may not be possible.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

- AN ORIGINAL VERSION OF TAKE ON HELICOPTERS FROM 1.05 (Steam and other digital platforms will update their game files through auto-updating once available)
- This lite update can only be installed from the 1.05 patched version.
- DirectX February 2010 is required and should be updated during the patching process automatically (if required).
- In case of problems it can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/directx

HOW TO INSTALL THE PATCH:
-------------------------
- Run the patch setup executable, which will apply the patch automatically.
- It will install the entire contents of the patch to a folder within your Take On Helicopters installation (the default is C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Take On Helicopters).
- Please note that it is not possible to rollback to a previous version after the installation of this patch; only a full reinstall of the game is possible. If you want to keep your previous version you may want to backup the entire game installation folder before applying this patch.
- It is not recommended to use any savegames created in previous versions (1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.05).

The point of this RC and the final patch is that no custom launch shortcut is needed (unless you want to add some of your own expansions of course). The merge is handled via the registry :)

Well if you mean auto-load (as it's handled through registry):

The point of this RC and the final patch is that no custom launch shortcut is needed (unless you want to add some of your own expansions of course). The merge is handled via the registry :)

In that case, it's not working for me!

I am getting the right exe (1.06.92408) and I can see 'Re Armed' in the expansions menu, but I am not getting any A2 or OA content.

Note - I have symlinked Hinds and ReArmed into my i:\mods\Arma folder (so that SixUpdater can find them with the rest of my mods).

Note 2 - I am using a Steam Installation of Arma 2 and OA on this machine.

ReArmed worked fine using the temporary launch switches (i.e refering to A2 and OA by mod switch).

Any ideas - I am probably doing something really silly!

I think what is meant is that Rearmed modfolder is loaded automatically, not that A2/OA content are loaded automatically :P

I did a quick test of the patch and it worked flawlessly on install for me..Really nice to have this "automagic". From the small test i did not find any showstoppers, tried both arma2 content in TKOH world and vice versa.

I can run as ToH:ReArmed A2 only

Worth you noting though SB as I ran each using the presets from SU - It looks like the preset for "Take on Helicopters Rearmed CO (forced)" is not including the ToH base folder. The other two (A2 forced and OA forced) do include it.

I have been doing this long enough - should have spotted it myself...

For auto detection you may not use -mod.

So either -mod and specifiy everything yourself or no -mod.

Gd'day!

Couple of things that I noticed:
The M4A1 has no recoil It displays a warning similar to the one that Scorlhov posted with regards to the Stinger.

TKOH Rearmed: (I own legitemate copies of all the mentioned products, just to avoid the 'use non pirated version' thought :) )
Although I added BAF and PMC to the load list, I only get the 'Lite' versions of it in game. Am I doing something wrong? Does TKOH:RA pick the mods directly from the Arma II directory or do I have to reinstall them into TKOH? If not, why can't I select any other mods appart from A2:OA / BAF / PMC ?

And one more thing:
A2:OA is not being saved in the mod list, meaning I have to manually click on it, restart the game to make sure it's loaded. I have to repeat this everytime I want to play.

Finally:
I learned the hard way that TKOH has quite some more hardware demand than ArmaII, so I spent the whole afternoon tweaking the graphic settings (playing around with viewdistance / shadows etc.) to get anywhere near the FPS that I'm used to. After turning on my PC this morning, I found that the menu now takes ages to load, I am talking about up to 2 minutes to get from 'single player' to 'options' and when clicking on 'controls' f.e it takes another minute before I can make any changes, has anybody an idea what's happening here? Because it wasn't like that yesterday!

capt_morpheme arma 2 free is currently no support via the registry detection unfortunately. I will check if it can be done.
However you can combine it with the modline or use Sixupdater to get it done. :)


FLv*VeNoM* the OA DLC is not yet support. We hope to get it done. You can vote for it here: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/30243
There is still a small bug when you have A2 and OA in the same folder. However its only a display problem in the modlauncher. OA is still active.
It is fixed in the next version though. The modlauncher settings are only save to the cfg, when you change it from the default/what it autodetects anyway.

Please post the rpt for your loading time issue.

Anybody know which order the Expansions should be Loaded ?

on startup first time , i had 1 meg .rpt , however i unticked a wrong addon in expansions and now i get 3 meg .rpt :0.

could you please provide an example or two? using mod line and then batch file?


i am not very good with this kind of thing but want to be able to load mods. also in the built in mod loader inside tkoh oa keeps dropping off.

thanks i looked there but afaik the info there is out of date as it talks about tkoh beta.

NOTE: Ensure paths using spaces are contained within quotation marks around the whole -mod parameter.

So this should work:

I did read the page , but it was not as detailed about , when on first startup in expansions list , @<hidden>@<hidden> etc become available by default , should I tick them or not , I will clear my sprofile and try again with your list order see if I get any spam thanks

First off the @<hidden> and @<hidden> are obsolete now. These two folders are what you created yourself in the past to make it work, right?
As you use the RC1, you can also remove the beta folder.

What you seem to have done is to break the correct loading order in the expansion list.

You have two options:
1) Locate the TakeOnH.cfg and delete the modLauncherList section completely.
2) Re-order them in the Expansion menu to the correct order. Probably you need to push Arma 2 to the end.

I have deleted all profiles and started from fresh so i have broke nothing ,the patch automatically now decides

Yes but it was only way i could think to fix the loss of baf needs charachters_E error created by default
anyway i will try toi re order and remove the obsolete folders , thanks will let you know

Make sure to show hidden files and folders, and search all your harddrives. It seems the TakeOnH.cfg still exists somewhere. :)

Well of course there is always two :)

one in mydoc/takeon
one in mydoc/takeonother/thromp

I deleted both , removed obsolete folders and well its same as fisrt pic other post without beta expansion etc.

seems the errors i am getting is because its not loading arrowhead and Baf requires it , think i will try the -mod way see if my luck chages :)

Nope , looks like its not recognising my Arrowhead install, must be some registery problem , not gonna reinstall the lot so think ill just run it like before by adding my own @<hidden> folders, not really an MP player .
Might even try write my own cpp and just have what i need loadded to be honest with what i use it for these days no sense having all them gigs loading.

This is some kind of balck magic. now when i use this it wont run. come on, am i really that thick?

this is run as a batch file in tkoh directory. reason i am doing this is i want ot run a few mods but the built in extension manager is so flaky (keeps forgetting OA) and clumsy to use (every entry i tick or untick jumps to anothe rposiiton on the page) that it is painful.

please could someone help here.

- You didnt add the take on folder itself, it should go before Hinds
- You don't need the TOH beta if you are using the 1.06 RC, but if you want to use the beta, you must also start the exe from the beta, currently you are starting the normal exe

You could launch it through Six Updater and then copy/paste the startup parameters.

i used six to get it working . thanks! i get weird screen though with brown boxes over the green menu background and an error message that i cant read . the shortcut i got from six is

Well you are modline from SU is lacking the Rearmed folder. :)

So basic story is:
a) You launch without -mod and everything is taken care of.

The internal modlauncher may not work with community mods. I have to double check that.

b) You use -mod but have to make sure you load everything needed and in the right order.

I have been watching the forums for the last few months and not really posting except for some updates on the controls setups, and I must say, I have been very saddened by the lack of discussion concerning the flight model. It seems as though BIS has given up on VRS and other realistic effects. I hope this is not the case. ....but I sure am glad everyone is getting there ARMA content working. :(

Zentaos - if you want to see things changed then you have to help make that change happen. Watching the forums is not going to miraculously make the FM change.

Maybe there are not too many real life pilots using the game? As a non-pilot the flight model seems real enough to me. Unless it does something obviously wrong (like the old medium helicopter spin of death) then I personally do not feel qualified to comment on it.

Anyway, if you want a discussion then you might just have to start one!

TKOH support is still going, but we are not working with full staff for obvious reasons. Currently we are focusing on Rearmed and this patch, after which we'll hopefully get back to some other topics :)

Well I shall refrain from going over previous posts
In essence this registry driven access to my installations is not picking up my oa installation , I have tried several methods ,however the basis of my problem is simply the exe does not recognise my sprocket oa .
I have tried all methods but to no avail , seems the exe even overwrite my .cfg when I change it, I have no wish to reinstall every product again .

The final tkoh patch is out? I am looking forward to it big time as I like the Asia map and much improved view distance and clouds. But like the great changes in the arma2 patch as well.

Our support resources are stretched a little thin at the moment, but with OA's 1.62 having been released, the next TKOH patch should get closer to release. We wanted some of the fixes in OA to make it into this patch (e.g. detection of available video memory).

Is patch 1.06 compatable with ARMA II Reinforcements?

Ive purchased and installed it and nothing appears in the TKOH expansions menu.
Ive tried reinstalling the patch and still nothing.

It does see ARMA II though.

I managed to get Reinforcements listed in the TKOH expansions menu.
I was installing it in a folder different to ARMA II. I reinstalled it and let it install into the steam ARMA II folder (as it wanted to in the first place).
Have been getting a lot of problems with file missing error messages and textures not rendering correctly so have uninstalled and will try again when the patch is released.
Will stick with having just ARMA II intergrated in the mean time.

Cobra5000 disable Rearmed if you want them back. Technically it can be only TKOH voices _OR_ Arma voices.

We are currently building a new beta patch to test a lot of new EXE fixes and changes brought in from recent work on Operation Arrowhead (some technology is shared and the improvements will benefit TKOH). Once that receives a little testing we'll likely deploy another full RC patch.

This is unfortunately up to Steam support, and it does not have priority for them. We'll still try to motivate them to get it out there. Meanwhile: the NC installer is compatible and will work with your Steam version.
