Hi just a heads up as there seems to be a few space sim fans here, the Wing Commander Saga mod is going to be released tomorrow. The mod uses the Freespace 2 source so you don't need the original game for the mod.

Got a bookmark to WCSaga since someone mentioned it here during the OFP days, man it was a long wait. Kudos to the team, that trailer looks very polished & professional!

I played three turtorial missions so far (Prologue to the story) and I really like it. The characters are cool, the ships are cool and the story seems to be cool too. You can really see that the people behind this were really dedicated fans of the series. Everything really well made and they give this masterpiece out for free, they won´t even accept donations. The graphics are a little bit outdated in some places but you don´t really notice it.
Maybe I´ll make a gameplay Video of this.

As it's based on the FS2 source, is there a mission editor with it like there is with FS2 ?

I really don´t know, but the devs will keep adding features I think. The MP is still missing.
BTW it plays fine with Mouse+keyboard

I downloaded from Gamershell, installed and on final completion to "ok" the completed install my firewall popped up with "Detected as P2P Worm" so I auto clicked deny for obvious reasons, wondered if anyone else has any detection of this or false positives?

Naturally denying fails the install, so I will hang on for a bit before I try anything more & maybe search around.

False Positive: Some anti-virus (most notably ESET NOD32) may report a false positive and detect wcsaga_sse2.exe as a virus/worm. Tell your anti-virus to omit this warning.

Although in my mind I instantly then think "What is it that your asking me to let through" .... :)

It's amazing how much these guys have kept to the spirit of the original games from the breifings to the in-game dialogue, I think the gameplay's helped by the use of the Freespace engine too.

Played the original and first expansion quite a lot and was initially pretty interested in this but find I can no longer get enthused by single-player gaming, it's what we did before the Internet.

Last Battle was a Bloodbath, took down over 200 enemys. Serious awesomeness!
