Resistance's north american release date changed

I've been notified by Codemasters that the correct N. American release date of OFP: Resistance is officially July 2 and not June 28.

This is already reflected at least on the Resistance product page (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1126936-8310094) at CM's online US shop.

It was scheduled for July 28. As mentioned, July 28 is still the European release date.

Check out CM&#39;s front page (www.codemasters.com). From the big red announcement that it is due for release "THIS FRIDAY" it looks like it&#39;s on target for the UK and probably the rest of Europe.

Also check out their latest News article at the bottom of the page which has a new but small screen shot (although they seem to have the captions switched around&#33; doh&#33http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

For all in the US, I&#39;m sure some of us will post some screen shots for you (e.g. pistol(s), bridge(s), etc.) though with the bandwidth blow-out that might cause I wouldn&#39;t be surprised if BIS has to expurgate those posts to prevent the forum from crashing.

i ordered from codemasters US shop, when it said the 28th, now i checked and it says the 2nd.

But its not fair that the US gets it later than the rest again. Actually i live in the US and i got the EU version in mid july before the US version came out. I just hope i dont get it too long after everyone else.

I got every game before its release and also some beta versions for display purposes. the manager used to let me take home games weeks before the release so I could record myself playing and they would show it on the monitors in the store. or you can just goto nearest game store and pick it up from shelves on 3rd.

Maybe a quick summary will help some folks here get the picture:

UK release date: June 28

Europe release date: June 28 (European online retailers still showing this date)

North America release date: July 2

Rest of World release date: good question. My guess is no earlier than July 2.

Why was the N.A. date pushed off till July 2 and why are online stores in N. America showing dates from July 10, 11 and onward? Chances are that they manufactured the disks late enough so that overseas distribution couldn&#39;t coincide with Europe&#39;s.

heres what I think is going on with that EB store and the mixed message regarding them receiving shipments...the clerks at the EB stores check their web site for release dates (at least they do here)...if you go to ebworld.com and type in resistance in the search box it shows this:

HOWEVER...if you click on the link for more info it says:

Ships On 7/9/2002

...what Im guess happened is that when you asked him he fired up the page...did a search for the title and came up with the 6/25 date...so he told you that they were expecting shipments today. I think their webmaster just forgot to change the date in both spots on the page...thus causing the confusion. Perhaps I&#39;m wrong...just a theory.

I actually leaned over the counter and saw from their internal management program, not from website. EB stores do not use their website for management purpose, they have their own program that deals with inventory.

and on that program, it said shipment arrives on 25th.

but when I went their today, the guy did look at the same inventory management program as before and said they will get the shipment today, but will put it on shelf on 3rd, and said they can&#39;t do anything about it. if they sell it to me right now, they will be fined.

so it&#39;s contarct issue i guess

My guess is that CM placed a clause in contract that EB does not put it on shelves until specific date. And breach of contract is not a good thing.

Well.. poor BIS, I suggest they seek another distributor because they just opened the floodgates to piracy.

Game gets released in 1 country = Other countries are still in demand = demand filled by Piracy = Less dollars for hard work BIS have done.

Unfortunately BIS have also been let down, aswell as the OFP fans in the US, Asia Pacific etc have been let down.

In Germany: Supposedly releasing today, but some places were selling it yesterday
In Britain & the rest of Europe: Releasing today
In America: Official Release Date of July 2. However, 2 of the biggest games stores have varying opinions of this. Best Buy says it releases on June 30th. Electronics Boutique says they wont have ir ril at least the 7th of July
In Australia: Not til at least the 10th. If I were you guys I would be going ape shit on CMs customer service division right about now.

Codemasters are a bunch of friggin idiots who couldnt handle an international release if their lives depended on it. Their shipping division must be completely severed from all the other divisions, and sales& marketing divisions aint exactly winning awards either. They have a jewel of a game in OFP, in fact, its the only one of their recent games to garner any sort of notable critical praise, and yet on their PC games page, I have to scroll halfway down to find OFP, and Im running on 1600x1200&#33; This is sad. CM has the goose that lays the golden egg, and they dont even realise it. BIS has demonstrated with the release of OFP that they are a serious game development studio that deserves to be treated professionally, akin to other great game studios. But instead CM treats them like the second string, botching their releases, and not advertising their stellar product adequately.

OFP was first major release for BIS, and in that situation CM holds more cards than BIS. so this time, there isn&#39;t much that BIS can do.

of course, success of OFP now will help future. BIS can ask for certain restrictions, like same day release for world and so forth. so if there will be OFP2, I hope BIS can have some more bargaining power.

at least I know I&#39;ll get OFP2 if it comes out. that&#39;s one customer willing to buy to start with.

Staggering release dates is stupid, if BIS ever find out the actual figures for how many sales they lost to piracy thanks to CM, they&#39;ll freak out for sure.

Considering CM have done NO advertising for BIS to promote their product, the actual hype in the gaming community was quite good, to delay release in certain countries has wasted all that momentum.

I can tell you now 70% of people who were waiting to purchase have now sought alternative methods for obtaining the game.

Local Best Buy was a no-go today for my area...heres the kicker...a guy I know called to inquire about availability and they told him that they have already sold a shipment off the shelves...this contradicts the fact that I have been to Best Buy in person for the past 3 days and each time was told by employees that they didnt have it yet. Ok, here&#39;s the scene, 10am 20+ people at the front door to this "Best Buy" canadian clone. Doors open, everyone of us run to the pc games department. The other 19 people are all grabbin&#39; copies of Warcraft 3, I&#39;m looking frantically for OFPR. I check the corner display of the isle where the newest released are (WC3 has a fucking whole display to itself). So I run to where the FPS section is, Ghost Recon, JK2, OFP....... nope, outta luck, come back tomorrow, we might have it then, tells the troll of the games department.

Funny that Blizzard had the game released worldwide at the same time for every store (I was in another computer store half an hour before and as soon as I walked to the games department, the guy just tells me WC3 won&#39;t go on sale until 10AM, like I would even buy that game).

Yet, COCKMasters can&#39;t get their asses in gear to do the same for OFPR. Every day that passes and I still don&#39;t have OFPR, I don&#39;t even feel like playing OFP anymore, there&#39;s no point. Go ahead CARPETMUNCHERS, keep fucking around, you&#39;re making a good name for yerself...

I just bought a new computer. It started out by me buy a GF4 Ti4400, but then I realized that it wouldn&#39;t be used proberly on my PIII 866 with only 256mb of ram, so I got this P4 2.2, with a kick ass ASUS mobo and 512mb or DDR ram. I wanna fully enjoy OFPR when I get it.

Ok, got some playing time in on OFP-R last night, heres my "opinion". Which is subject to ridicule if you please.

1.If you did&#39;nt pre-order or reserve a copy guess what, you ain&#39;t getting one anywhere, stores are sold out and people are begging for it. Get yours reserved&#33;&#33;

2.Loading is cake

3.You don&#39;t need a supperman system to run OFP-R

P-3 550mhz,256ram,Nidia G-2or3(can&#39;tremember)64mb video card.

Just set everything low, hey you wont know the diffrence, the game still looks stunning.Plays fine with butt load of stuff on screen and has minimal skipping/lag.

4.BIS out did themselves, this has to be the most fun I&#39;ve had since I found out what my peckers for. The sory line is awesome, the new pick and drop rules, the AI is better, the island is a masterpeice.

5. The motorcycle looks to be a old truimph, what a blast to ride. The cop jeeps are cool as hell, lifted 4x4 with a cool ass light bar. THe buses rock, terrorist missions here we come.

And finally, if you did&#39;nt reserve a copy what the hell where you thinking?

After many months of waiting. After the past two weeks of looking at the cursed Europeans getting something before us... I now have OFP:R. And I love it. The cutscenes are great, the island is beautiful, the new campaign system is a blast and the missions are tough.

I got it where you got it frk19732001, I was downtown last night before the Alouette&#39;s game and none of the computer stores had it. So today I went out to that EB at Angrignon mall and they had 2 copies of it, but they had like 20 copies of Warcraft 3, those bastards.

I installed it no problem, and with my new GF4 4400, P4 2.2 and 512mb Ram, omg, the game is like amazing. I now can see men beyond 200m that are more than just blots in the distance, but I can see legs and arms. Man, I gotta say, the new island is amazing, just driving around in a jeep or bus, it&#39;s so cool.
