Looking forward to RF2, the modding community is great for this sim =). hope to make my first Car mod for RF2. My only concern is how good the physics engine is going to be. It looks good, but the movement of the vehicle in the trailers doesn't seem to compare to Iracing for example. Maybe their is a reason for it like the track not being laser scanned or something. I hope the tire model will live up to expectations.

Looks very great, I drove much rF1 (also Nascar2003 and GTR2) in private finnish leagues (from 2003) before signing in to iRacing (late 2008 ->) which have took all the time from other racing simulations. I hope this rF2 will have as good driving physics as iRacing have. At least it will have dynamic weather and support for mods. Especially the dynamic rain conditions are something that I´ve waited now 10 years since grand prix 4 (by Geoff Crammond). Cant wait to see how its done in this.
btw. it looks like the open beta is coming very soon. Many are guessing this week (and tuesday), but lets see.
Open beta is released! :) Only if the purchasing would work, currently too many people are trying to connect at the same time.

I've bought rFactor 2, playing the beta for a day now and I must say I am really impressed.
The tyre deformation looks much better than in Live for Speed or iRacing. The physics are really good aswell, the force feedback definately leaves a realistic impression and so are the graphics.
Can't wait to see the first mods released! Also looking forward to GTR3 which looks like a potentially smashing simulator aswell!
I like the beta much too. Its currently stuttering badly and graphics could look better, but the dynamic weather and track with great feeling to drive are offering much fun. As you said, I cant also wait the first mods and that GTR3 if its using the updated engine from rF2. That would be dream combination. :) iRacing still feel better in many areas for me, but rF2 will be great sim for private leagues for sure if the weather is kept random.
Historic formulas have been my favorite so far in the beta. I made a vid from the latest race we practiced in finnish league. I couldnt stay on track in qualification, but got more far in race: :)

Cant wait to drive these cars on the old Nordschleife. It was favorite in rF1, I hope they convert it soon for this too. :)

Those old Formula-type cars without downforce sweep like a floorcloth, but it makes racing so much more fun.
The guys at ISI have made rFactor 2 really well on the fun side of the game. It feels more rewarding to play than the old rFactor aswell - even in the Renault Megane Trophy and Formula Renault 3.5.

You mean those optional DLCs?
Optional as in "You can't play, click here to buy these car packs and this track pack used by people in this race"?
DLC concept should burn in a fire. Now lazy and greedy devs charge you $100 for the same amount and quality of content that was priced at $40 only half of a decade ago.

Higher detail content in modern games is much more expensive to make...
Although Codemasters trying to charge you for cars that you can already see your AI opponents using against you from day 1, that was low (Dirt 3).

Most modern games are limited by a nearly 8 years old hardware of XBox360. Detail varies from the same to worse in them for many years now.
As for rFactor2 - it looks just like any other gMotor2 game except with more shaders.
And talking about games in general - 2D games of not too long ago (I'm talking first half of 200x) had the same amount of modeling and detail as 3D games do now. And they didn't reuse the same asset over and over and over again and had a lot of content.
I guess making horse armors is really expensive today.

As for rFactor2 - it looks just like any other gMotor2 game except with more shaders. It handles way more polygons. But we are already used to fake normal maps that people don't even notice a tenfold in polygons. The lighting is different aswell, if you play rFactor 2 and afterwards rFactor you'll definately notice.
But the noteworthy changes in ISImotor 2.5 aren't graphical. They are either physics-based, force-feedback based or the SDK and the amount of APIs available for modding.

Small team, low budget I think.

Haha :D
Not all DLC is that bad.
I gotta admit though, only DLC I ever bought was for Deus Ex 3, and when it was half price. Wasn't half bad actually.
