Hey guys, I've been thinking about purchasing this game but i had a few questions to ask first... Most important is my joystick, im using a pretty basic joystick, a Logitec Attack 3, it works perfectly when im flying in arma 2 whether im just transporting or in a gunship. I was curious if i am going to get the same results flying in take on helicopters as i do in arma? also, i was wondering if there will be any military aspect to this game? It mostly seems civilian from what I've seen, personally i like a little bit of "danger" and such out of my flying like there is in arma flying into a ao and back out continuously while under fire without going down. Is there going to be anything comparable to this in the game? Right now I'm currently all in Battlefield 3 right now so im just curious as well to know if this will be worth it or should i just stick with jumping on arma 2 and stick with my flying there?

i think your stick will be fine.

why does everyone want that military thing? there is enough danger in TOH...the 4 elements....but i am sure, soon some missions will pop up from the community that give you a lot of bangs, bums and hellfire

MoreThot, as a tactical shooter person myself, I recommend strongly that you purchase ToH immediately. You will encounter much danger, but in different forms than you are used to. With the new flight models, you will find that being under fire is less important than before - believe me, you will have enough fun on your hands just in controlling the choppers and completing objectives. If you liked flying A2 helis, you will love ToH. The graphics alone are just so awesome that you should not pass this game up, as long as you have a fairly powerful computer setup. I'm about to jump into BF3 myself after I'm done with ToH.

Yeah i've got a pretty decent rig, im about to upgrade my video card from the nvidia gts 250 i think, to the nvidia gtx 580 along with a new power supply, all intended for bf3 though.

Sounds good. I'm wondering if my GTX 295 can handle BF3. It handled BF2 perfectly at max settings. Playing ToH with the 580 should be sweet.

I'm thinking about buying the game too. I usually prefer military games, but this seems like fun. I'm curious about what the challenge is in the missions? Are they timed, so you need to beat the clock, or is it just about controlling the helicopter and being accurate enough, keeping your position, not crashing and all that? Or a mixture of both?

Thought about buying "Take On Helicopters" on Sprocket, but for 42.36€ ??

It's not "just" helicopters...

In some of the South Asian missions, you might find yourself on the ground in "infantry" mode. :D

Quite the challenge, and breaks up just flying around. Very nice touch Bohemia.

Ok, thanks for the replies, now I'm a bit more sure that I will enjoy the game.

As far as I can see, it's 40 Euros, not 42.36? Or will there be taxes or something added too? It's a bit high, that's why I was hesitating. Had there been anyone else than BIS making the game, I would have waited for a sale on Steam, or not bought it at all.

But since it's also a way of supporting BIS, and making more great games from them possible in the future, I have decieded to buy this now.

All of the above (time trials, single-mission challenges), and much more, including a full single-player "campaign" (called career mode), and multiplayer.

Some things about the game aren't exactly intuitive.

Some of the best jewels in the game are located in career mode.

Just hit escape and go to Heliport under that first menu. Navigate those menus till you've seen it all. There is where you get optional parts for your helicopters and do repairs. It's also where you take additional contract jobs once the first story line is done. You can also buy and repaint your helicopters there.

Don't just think the game is over once you've done the story. There's tons more to check out.

are you guys kidding? bf3's helicopter flight model BLOWS! and no you won't be fine with just a stick, you need a throttle quadrant and a pedal to fly these helicopters properly and probably track ir as well. if you're looking for a great game with a lot of variety then this is it. and yes there's already military game play with this game on multiplayer server where you can shooting AI taliban guys etc with littlebird with mingun and rockets or the huey with door gunners and rockets. the flight model here compared to arma2 is night and day. you'll have your hands full just landing safely, plus BIS hasn't even implemented vortex ring state effect. once they do you'll need to fly even more precisely so that "danger" part is just keeping your bird in the air while performing your mission.
