Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and
surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.
A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer,
Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

I'm still hating on rocksatr from DRM/securom basically immobilizing my last game GTA4, and not sure if I can do another one, ive played them all (15% of the last one), San Andreas being my favourite... Currently cannot even finish red dead.

My bet is that it will be a bit more modern with focus on the cruel bussiness, wall street and companies such as goldmann & sachs. Propably things like corruption and greed for money. How about fighting those big companies? :D

Anyways, looking forward to that trailer

I think you've hit the nail on the head there, that's certainly what the significance of the 5 dollar bill style suggests to me. Perhaps it may be a new city too, something to do with power and money, like Washington. If this is the case I also imagine that the charachter we play will start off fairly powerful and affluent, sort of like Vice City.

Bit of a long shot of course, based on just that one image but Rockstar do load their clues with plenty of meaning.

I hope it will be some sort of san andreas concept, not just one city.
I still "miss" some place like the country side between Los Santos and Las Ventura. I mean I trully miss them like if it was a real place I've been to :p

I've also always dreamed of a "GTA police" where you'd play a more or less corrupted cop, à la The Shield

Oh well, pretty sure I'll be buying it, always been a fan of the GTA serie, even more since they choose to clearly aim a mature audience.

Can't wait for the trailer :bounce3:

Well, if they keep continuing their usual cycle we would be back in Vice City (Miami) again.
But maybe they will choose something completely different this time, you can also recycle the same places so often. :p

I would like to see

More weapons, Miniguns, flamethrowers, more rocket launchers (and higher ammo carrying capacity), smg's and a magnum.

more cheat codes and fun cheat codes Drunk all the time cheat code anybody?? :D

Better PC version that takes advantage of modern hardware

A jetpack

More customization when it comes to your character and clothing.

I wouldnt mind the Vice City locale.

LA, Miami, New York... Don't yall think it's time for a real American setting like GTAV: Idaho Hills

-As an illegal, run from racial supremacists
-Win your girl over from her old beau/father
-Steal top O' line Pickup trucks
-Beat the bar rodeo bull sidequest
-Hunt
-Beer

Heck, I'd buy it.

I just wish that there will be a PC Version, and that they don´t fuck it up like with GTA 4 I agree on that, the release of GTAIV was awful for PC, sketchy badly drawn shadows, stuttering, >>> NO SUPPORT AA AT ALL <<<< It looked awful until hacks came out and then a shadow patch way over a year or more later, its only due to hacks I think we got AA support even now.

As always this will be console first so its interesting but then a little annoying knowing whats to come visually. The way they would win back from the last is full optimisation for PC on release (AA support for god sake & proper shadows) .. and they released to PC not long after console, which I highly doubt will happen anyway.

I am very interested to see the trailer to see how they have upped the graphics, recent hacks with graphics mods for IV look stunning and photo realistic, hope they have learned from the past.

Although off topic while this takes a long time to land on PC (which is why it doesn't amaze me as news) I really wish they would drop Red Dead Redemption to PC instead of LA Noire :(

Yeah, tell me about it. I bought GTA 4 one day before Release, but couldn´t play it until the official Release. It was awfull. Everything looked so damn ugly and it was stuttering. I had a decent PC but couldn´t run the game at more then low to medium settings. (A PC that played Crysis on very high)
Luckily I wasn´t a ATI User at that time, they couldn´t play the game at all.

Katipo66

I think gta is more suited for console anyway? Ive never played one on console apart from red dead and think it's a chill on couch type of game

The only things I remember of GTA 4 are:
-Some weird stupid rockstar club account or DRM or something like that.
-incredibly low fps and visual artifacts.
-borrowed it to a friend after I dragged myself into the first 10 mins of gameplay and forgot to ask it back. He still has it! This actually reminded me to ask it back next time I see him.

But thats just my experience.. Maybe it was a good game. Maybe..

Edit:

Luckily I wasn´t a ATI User at that time, they couldn´t play the game at all.
Guess that was me, then. But I was too pissed off to wait or even look for a patch or something like this. How can you release a game in such a state? Nobody tried to run it with a ati video card before release? Are this guys game developer or what?

Bah, they wont get my money again. Not that they care, but still..

Actually I cant think of a game developer that deverves money. BI and Valve springs to mind.. Leaving alone indie developers. But I am more of a Hearts of Iron, Combat Mission, TOAW et similar guy, so I guess its just me.

I have high hopes for this. Loved GTA4 but I still hate that DRM shit.

mrcash2009
Oct 25 2011, 21:06
I agree I wont go out and buy on release, but for PC it will be a long way away anyway. I did it with GTAIV and I just basicly beta tested it for months :)

The game itself was far less over kiddie styled (like San Andreas) and was a good story line and cut scenes, a lot more solid in terms of story and feel. I played it on console and it was much better on PC to play.

After a year or more it took the community to A: make it look like it did on the box (smooth with AA) B: make it so you didn't need all the bloat ware R* start up crap for SP (and no it was legal ..if anyone remembers DRM patch DLL from the company themselves was released that bypassed CD insert and other things through R* support).

So yeh "for PC" it was an uphill struggle from release and slow patch fixes and community fixed it better that R* could or wanted, in fact all things considered PC release was a total catastrophe in terms of justifying the "not a console port!" groups, and it was that and a bit worse at the start.

Its saving grace was the story, physics and the editor to make films, best editor for film making ever in a game I think. Just hope they make it more than 30 sec capture limit and some better UI features in the next version for PC.

If anyone likes to make movies and doesn't like GTAIV, just get it for the movie editor, that and fraps is great.

One thought, I wonder if like red dead they decide to leave the PC market for GTAV ... now that would be news :) The sloppy release for PC and slow patching concerns said allot. If they say R* Toronto are doing it then worry, if they mention R* North (UK) are doing it, then that will be good news above the main news of the next version.

Tonci87
Oct 25 2011, 23:37
I would be very sad if they don't release a PC Version. I own GTA 2, GT3, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA4. Everything as PC Version. I would like to add GTA V to the list.

Ask the game back and try it with the patches. Its really a very good game with great Effects and Storyline

Tonci87
Oct 26 2011, 01:20
There is one Thing that confuses me. Why does it have a number in the Title?

Each GTA that had a number, had two important Things:

A new Engine
Liberty City

A new Engine already? Who knows
Liberty City? Would totally fit with the banksters/money theme.

The V could also be a codename for something else.

I hope they have more open ground like in GTA:SA. I don't like Liberty City, I would prefer to drive a convertible down a desert road while playing rock music, not around some big city.

If its money orientated then maybe it might be based on Vegas, well, at least a map that will include open travel areas. Having said that not liking a map & game that was completely designed and based on NY city becuase you want countryside and desert is a bit :j: .... :). Mind you I think there as a GTA SA conversion for IV engine in the works, have a search.

I wouldn't like the silly game-play aspects of GTA:SA that was all a bit what Saints Row can cater for, I would like to see a solid story and the usual latest physics and tight scripting which does include a more open expanse in the map some place.

Then again my days of this game have fissled out now, IV is boxed and gathering dust and im really not sure I want to get the next one, would rather have RDR to PC and just Arma3.

Last weekend i bought the GTA-IV with exspansions from Steam for 12 Euros, so at that price game is clearly worth the money, but with BF-3 coming out tomorrow it may loose interest...

Will although follow the GTA-V and see what it brings...

One thought, I wonder if like red dead they decide to leave the PC market for GTAV

Things have changed since 2008. Back then consoles were still pretty competitive compared to computers. It's not the case anymore and the gap between consoles and pc's is going to be even greater in 1 year.

Who would have thought Dice would choose computers as "their" platform for BF3 ?

Maybe (finger crossed) they're going to follow the Dice's path and not restrict themself with consoles limitations.

Maybe dealing with selling weapons like in the movie Lord of War?

Brazil-Rio would be nicer.... maybe playing one of the youth street gangs :p

CarlGustaffa
Oct 27 2011, 10:56
I've given up Rockstar since GTA IV fiasco that could never run right (BSOD crashes), loss of RPG elements (small, but still a way in my direction), and never ever considering 1st person fans (I can't control anything in 3rd, making the game far too difficult), and finally completely ignoring PC (Red Dead).

So for me, all hope is lost regarding Rockstar.

mrcash2009
Oct 27 2011, 13:09
and finally completely ignoring PC (Red Dead). This was actually my next purchase of a "GTA style cowboy game", and it wont come to PC so completely with you on that.

There is a mod for first person, but its more of a hack to be honest. If this ever comes to PC that would be a number one on the list of requests to R* ... add a first person view.

Im not massively in awe about a new game like you see online, but then that's an age thing and the fact that its only a game. Although I will be very interested in videos and graphics as a spectator.

CarlGustaffa
Oct 27 2011, 17:55

Yup, me too. I simply loved the setting, even if I wanted a bit more role play'ish approach to it. Guess for horse riding, I have to wait for...

If this ever comes to PC that would be a number one on the list of requests to R* ... add a first person view.
...Skyrim. But hey, guess what they did? They removed 1st person horse riding, forcing it now in 3rd, to me making it pretty much unusable.

Same here. I watched BF3 lets plays, and even if very impressive, I don't feel compelled to buy it for the extremely scripted no replay value single player part (it's MP doesn't interest me at all - also something to do with age and lack of reflexes :p).

mrcash2009
Oct 27 2011, 18:07
I also think first person has never been implemented becuase R* dont want to have that kind of reality to the violence, IE the psychology of 3rd person/speaking in 3rd person = distanced from the violence in a 3rd person perspective.

I know that may seem odd to say, but there's allot of difference conducting the violence of GTA as first person perspective, less of reality or more un natural as 3rd.

ST_Dux
Oct 27 2011, 19:39
But hey, guess what they did? They removed 1st person horse riding, forcing it now in 3rd, to me making it pretty much unusable.
What can't you figure out about third person? It's really not that much different.

CarlGustaffa
Oct 27 2011, 22:37
It is to me :p Hard to explain. Floating (like, smooth camera movement) makes me keep running into walls constantly. Fixed (as rigid as 1st person) just feels utterly horrible. And I can't imagine a middleway setting that would work. It becomes too annoying to keep control and immersed I just don't do it.

Unless you actually become utterly annoyed with 3rd person view (not talking about "cheat mode" like in A2/OA, that's other reasons entirely for me), I guess it's hard to imagine. Imagine being forced to play with red and blue colors disabled simply because others said you had to :)

mrcash2009
Oct 28 2011, 12:29
I think IV redeemed itself for story and less kiddy fun times (which some disliked) more grown up graphics and so on (PC issues and support problems aside).

It was the only one I played the storyline and completed it, before that I tired of it half way through in SA/Vice City.

Unless they pull something really unique out of the bag it will be hard not to see it as the same old thing with a fresh look & theme.

I also wonder what this ones install size will be, 16gig for the last one, multi DVD's ... blue ray install only? Physical download only? Then again it wont be for PC for some time to come.

The things that would make people take notice is PC release first, or PC with consoles release parallel and PC has its own support, full graphics support from the outset without patching it and hacking for PC, and its done for PC by Rockstar North (who PC released previous titles prior to IV) and not Rockstar Toronto (who cocked up the last PC side release with IV with a slowly-patched-up-over-a-ridiculous-amount-of-time bad port). With the community fixing the rest and actually adding graphical features R* Toronto either couldn't do, or didn't want to do due to budget.

Oct 28 2011, 12:39
For unbridled run from the Po-Po, awesome cityscapes and insane amounts of physics -GTA remains supreme.

My pet peeve is that they don't advance some of the games functionality ie...going on a public killing spree with a small army after you then hop in the red circle in plain view and all is forgiven.

I think the player should have to really evade and lay low, go see a plastic surgeon etc... basically they can really dig themselves a hole thats not so easy to get out of.

New Grand Theft Auto V Rumors (Spoiler):

-The protagonist is Hispanic and his name is Adrian.
-It takes place in San Andreas in 2012. The Mayan end of the world is parodied a lot because of this.
-You start out in Los Santos and are in your rival’s turf, Varrios Los Aztecas, after getting beaten up and robbed.
-The game revolves around money in a big deal. I’d reveal the big idea, but I don’t want to ruin it.
-Multiplayer is in again. There are a couple of new game modes, co-op story, and 32-player game modes for consoles and 64 player for PC. PC also includes dedicated servers.
-PC comes out on launch and is being ported by Leeds. From what they have shown us it is optimized much better than GTA 4.
-San Andreas includes all the same cities from GTA SA and this time they have all became ab it bigger as well as much more detailed.
-Gang turf wars are back. This time not only the general gang are in charge but different sets such as57th Ballas or the Eastside Azteca. They have their own graffiti. You can tag up stuff with custom sprays now too.

Story spoiler:
-In the end your protag dies once again like in RDR. Afterwards you play as his brother who inherits the money.
-”The money” I refer to comes from a massive drug trade that ships to San Andreas. Its fought over a lot throughout the story and it comes with lots of money. It has ties to your family so it becomes a bigger deal.
-The timeline continues off of GTA 4. It is referenced a lot. I’m not really sure whether Niko dies but he’s mentioned at least twice.
-Car modding is back so is lowriding of course.
-There are 9 radio stations. It features a range of music. Some of the rap is new, some is old. There’s a better selection than GTA 4 though IMO.
-Military has returned in the 6 star wanted level except they are referred to as National Guard.
-Cover system is upgraded and plays more smoothly.
-The moral decisions you saw in GTA IV have more effect on the story now. There are at otal of 4 unique endings. 2 bad, 2 good. Whether the protag dies in all of them you’ll just have to figure out since the endings are actually pretty cool.
-More girlfriends.
-Parachutes.
-Fun cheats are back!

-PC comes out on launch and is being ported by Leeds. From what they have shown us it is optimized much better than GTA 4.Unsure of this, as Leeds etc are R* North (well, UK based) and they dealt with GTA SA etc direct for PC first, and not R* Toronto who did the console first and all GTAIV then crap port to pc patch failure shenanigans, So it seems odd they mention it comes out on launch for PC, but then its ported ... ?

Well I may have a few things wrong with that, but I am glad that port will happen by Leeds than Toronto as they cocked that up completely last time.

I think this will satisfy allot of people, as it covers all the things people missed, but now with top graphics, so we can expect the desert land and county to be like RDR graphicly, and city / Vegas to look very well details as per GTAIV but more enhanced, and a solid storyline too.

Will be very interesting to see shots of Vegas in the trailer.

... IF its true :)

I enjoyed San Andreas for it's scale and extra mission activities.
I enjoyed 4 and EFLC for their great contemporary atmosphere. Going to see a comedy show after a mission or watching TV was interesting. The city was also well done.

If they do combine the 2, well... :D

It would be cool to see whole San Andreas again - it was perfectI didn't like SA in some respects for its silliness in places but I did like the "map" and I would like to see it in a much high res next-gen style super eye watering glory.

Even if that information is completely wrong (50/50) ... there is a mod being created importing the SA map into IV engine, but I think it will be more of a port than a remake of it.

A fairly highly used site for GTA (GTAforums.com) has a section from the moderators and includes a sticky "what we know so far":

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=489948

Timeline

• November 13, 2009 - Rockstar's VP of Creative, Dan Houser, confirms to The Times (http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article6916029.ece?token=null&offset=0&page=1) that a new Grand Theft Auto will be made.
• October 25, 2011 - Grand Theft Auto V is officially announced!
• November 2, 2011 - The release date of GTA V's first trailer.

The Title

At this time, GTA V is simply GTA V. Whether Rockstar choses to give it a title (I.e. Vice City, San Andreas) remains yet to be seen.

The Location

The location of GTA V is anyone's guess as it has yet to be revealed, although indications from casting calls seem to point to the west coast of the USA.

The Protagonist

The protagonist of GTA V has yet to be revealed. Will it be a new character, or one we've already met? Only time will tell.

Release Date

No release date has been given yet, although assuming there are no delays, a reasonable guess would be at some point in the second half of 2012.

Update was Friday with no additions, so make of that what you will (apart from release date info).

BTW:

Countdown page to the actual trailer (which will crash no doubt within minutes) is here:

A friend of mine just send me this. He said it was posted 3 hours ago (don't know where) and it has already been removed.

My Dad works for Rockstar, and he has been secretly talking to me about it's development for the past two years.
I begged and begged, but at first he would not tell me anything about it for the first year or so- but I got into a bad accident and was severely depressed because of my injuries.
I was so depressed that I would not talk to anyone for over six months, and would not even try to get out of my wheelchair to walk again, or attend physical therapy.
Out of total desperation, knowing how much I loved GTA, my Dad started secretly talking to me about his job, and what was going on with GTA 5. He saw that every time he spoke about GTA 5 with me I would get happier, and I even started attending therapy, so he continued telling me everything about it.
I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT WHAT IS IN GTA 5.
All the stuff that has bean "leaked" so far is all B.S.
My Dad is going to put me back in my wheelchair- permantly- if I tell you all this stuff- but I cannot resist! I have been reading these stupid comments for days now, and it has been driving me crazy! I just have to say something! So here it is folks- the real deal- and I am going to get into HUGE trouble for this- but it is worth it: (Pray for me that my Dad won't break my back again- I have been through enough already!)
1. The protagonist is not named "Adrian" or whatever- he is hispanic though (Columbian) and his name is "Xavier". The name Xavier was chosen for the "X" initial.
2. The game takes place in San Andreas in 2012. There will be a timeline with days of the week, a calender, and dates. WW 3 breaks out on the date 12-12-12 in the game and changes the story drastically, and there will be a tsunami. Xavier goes from seeking revenge, and being a big time drug dealer, to saving many people, and being a real hero (Xavier means Savior in English).
3. The map is about twice as big as GTA 4, and much more detailed. The map will be very similar to the old San Andreas, although there will be major changes to the environment.
4. Xavier is young, and the game starts out on his graduation day from High School- everything is going great- until a drive-by kills his brother at the graduation ceremony.
5. Xavier will be buying a lot of properties like GTA San Andreas- but looses most of his properties from the tsunami at the outbreak of WW 3.
6. There will be gang wars- but everyone comes together to fight a common enemy. You will go from killing cops- to being a vigilante and helping the cops.
7. There will be military, but you will go from fighting against them when you have 6 stars, to working with them in a big way.
8. There will be a huge battleship that you will pilot that has big artillery, missiles, and guns that will be manned by other players in multiplayer.
9. There will be jet fighters, helicopters, drones, tanks, a submarine, wingsuits, jetpacks, and parachuting. There will be much higher altitudes, and dogfighting will be back- it will be in multiplayer mode.
10. There will be a few cars that are set up for drifting. You can mod cars, bikes, and trucks in mod shops. There will be badass lowriders, Monster trucks, and a car like the one in James Bond's

It seems a bit like a crazy story but who knows
1h30 left !

Well not a bad teaser trailer, clearly back to Vinewood as San Andreas.

Graphicly it looks on par with LA Nior, nice use of music in the teaser, cant say that any of the leaked info of character suggests much of anything correct in places, didn't blow me away too much editing wise, but interesting to get all the new info and more footage.

I noticed focus on "mile high club" poster, so obviously personal jets and flight must be back in.

Beautiful, simply beautiful.

* Time period is going to be early 2010s San Andreas, judging by the vehicles in the game and the signs pointing to an economic downturn (foreclosure signs, scores of homeless people and beggars, going out of business firesales, family man robbing a bank). Although it takes place in San Andreas, it'll be redesigned as there are locales not in the previous incarnation of San Andreas, such as the Los Puerta freeway, East Los Santos, Little Seoul, Pleasure Pier, Vespucci Beach, etc.

* Judging by the trailer focusing on two people, I'm thinking that there'll be more than one playable character this time around. Probably Tommy Vercetti and Carl Johnson, although Vercetti would be in his sixties in the early 2010s and Johnson would be in his forties.

* The scale is obviously much more vast than in previous games. Case in point, did you see the wind farms and the scale of those mountains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Nevada_(U.S.))?

* Aircraft are back, as usual. However, it looks it won't be limited to rotary wing aircraft this time around. Anybody spot that F-35B at 1:02?

The biggest world ever fot R*, 3 lead characters that you can play whenever you want (each one with special skillset and "minigames"), dynamic missions like in RDR, no more romance stuff, new gameplay for cars, shooting and punching and the whole thing looks so good....

Sadly, it was confirmed for PS3 and X360 but nothing has been spoken about the PC version. Probably some months later but who knows. Next 14th a trailer will be released.

I'm pretty sure we will have the pc version 6 months later, these discussions always pop up,it was the same with GTA 3,Vice City,San Andreas,GTA IV when people got worried we might not get a pc version.
Usually I'm more worried with their other ips not reaching pc platform, but not GTA.Remember GTA IV was released on pc in 2008,back then pc was in a very sorry state regarding game sales.

Regarding V it's interesting with the on spot changing between 3 characters. Not really interested in Trevor and Franklin,Michael is the perfect choice for me.
I do hope we will have more varied missions than GTA IV,with a few exceptions most of IV missions were "drive from A to B,kill some dudes" or "drive from A to B,kill some dudes then finishing with on-rails,scripted to hell and back chase".

I always found it a bit odd that we get a huge open world, yet the missions are always completely scripted and can be done in only 1 way.

mrcash2009
Nov 12 2012, 12:19
Well yes theres always the storyline and yes that will always be a scripted affair, never been any different. The main thing is the storyline are actually good & this time you have 3 lives to follow and switch with. Also they are implementing all that was learned with Red Dead with the mini/dynamic missions system all over the map, so its not as if the story line is the only thing to do.

NeMeSiS
Nov 12 2012, 15:43
Well yes theres always the storyline and yes that will always be a scripted affair, never been any different.

They still wouldnt have to make the missions so damn linear. Its not impossible to leave us some room for our own solutions to solve missions while still having the same outcome.

mrcash2009
Nov 12 2012, 17:47
Well I guess its no LA Noir, but then again that's what all the open world "outside of the story" aspect is of GTA, that's your non linear aspect. The idea to have a tight story & mission sets to then jump out of to do what ever the hell you like kind of makes it a poor argument in R* eyes.

I must admit that I followed the entire missions/story for GTAIV in all other versions I got bored very fast, probably becuase of the graphics and story aspect.

Also I guess PC version will be left as thats never released the same time as consoles, never was. I would suspect PC will have some more fancy additions with multi screen support, higher def and one thing I will be watching like a hawk is the replay feature to edit your own videos, I wonder just how far they will take it? Maybe direct 720p to youtube account? More editing suite style options and key framing? Who knows.

Really it's only the sandbox mode in between missions that hold any appeal for me. Missions become contrived and tiresome pretty quickly and the over the top macho acting doesn't help. Its driving around, smashing into shit with a side of mindless killings until you get a full five star death warrant on your head that leads to that rush feeling of -how long can I survive this unless your silly enough to park in one of those ridiculous "your safe now" parking spots in which all maniacal killing is forgiven. *sigh*

I'd like to see the running from the law -sociopathic loner aspect developed a little fuller. Im talking, your wanted until you disappear for a long time out into the wildnerness. Log cabin building/flyfishin/huntin and trapping mini games with of course the occasional Fed showing up or shady mountain men feudal wars. Of course after a while you could venture back into cityslicker life and even hop back into that humdrum main storyline -but I'm bettin me and at least 3 others would embrace the former.

Well, all i would like to see is the option to figure out my own entry point/route into an enemy base. I understand that they wouldt have to allow it every mission (As it could turn into 'Steal armed chopper and shoot everything, snipe survivors from rooftop' for a lot of missions), but allowing us to think every once in a while instead of just blindly following a path would make the missions infinitely more interesting. Just a bit more space to move around in while on a mission.

Also seems they are leaning on the "Heat" story with different characters/backgrounds working on jobs together. Makes sense sure to the Heat ref with GTAIV bank job they wanted to expand on.

In a thread talking about it coming out, then its inevitable, yes :) .

IV out on PC release I agree was a bad port, but again, PC came to the rescue and now its modded to death, took them a few patches to sort shadows thats for sure. R* Toronto did that port unsure who is with V I hope its R* north UK. Either way that doesn't overshadow the fact that once it gets unleashed on PC it can be bettered tham even the devs thought, ENB for one did this, so graphicaly it can be enhanced pretty much out the box given some code changes on mods.

There were PC releases of all major GTA titles...

While that is true, I am not going to assume they will release it on PC... given their comments about it:

"A potential PC version is only up for consideration. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.”

Apparently they dont see PC as an appropriate business opportunity. I could be wrong, and they might be doing this as a shock factor... but due to my pessimistic nature, I will assume it's console only, but I would LOVE to be wrong! ;)

I certainly hope so, but it might take up to a year after release before we know that.

This exactly same type of discussion happened with all GTAs,same story with GTA III,same with GTA SA and again with GTA IV.I'm willing to bet that will be a pc version,Rockstar simply like to troll people and they do it quite good.
GTA games are system sellers so it's pretty logical they don't want people to just wait for pc version.More profit if people buy it on consoles then again on pcs.Basic cha-ching thinking.:p

Ah, I didnt know they've done it that many times... makes me wonder now.... :)

They do it all the time.
But Red Dead Redemption still wasn´t released on PC.
I guess they didn´t sell many copies of GTA4 on PC, mainly due to the extremely bad quality of the port.

If you guess then its not all true:)

They did a port, but they did take time (some say a little too much) to patch it up multiple times and also they added the editor/replay editor that was a complete gem and only for PC.

Red Dead is not GTA, and GTA is something they know they can shift on all platforms as its the main stay of the company. I dont think they will ignore PC, one clue is the fact that they didn't push to the "Next Gen" bandwagon, so graphicly and engine wise it will work for PC and as always will look better as they haven't pushed passes existing consoles that run the previous title without any new upgrades. Look at the face anim updates that are "similar" to LA Nior .. and that was to PC.

As its been said, its the usual PR that was just like last time.

Unless they made a shit port so they can justify low sales to ignore PC this time, but then why would they have gone so far to the the editor for PC only feature in (and I have to say if there was some saving grace with port issues until patches that was the silver lining).

Talking of graphics, in all those impressive story videos its a jaggy fuz fest if you look closer and further, and to me looks very much like IV did on the PC port, so I dont think consoles are being spared any limitations.

A lot of console open-worlds fail on PC, GTA is one of the few that does not - and even then GTA4 was a lot worse than previous ones. When they ported Bully everyone was like "zomg another game by Rockstar on PC" and then when people played it everybody was "meh". So I guess Rockstar just doesn't see RDR as a successful project on PC.

I don't believe the low sales line either.I remember quite well that GTA III was the same half-assed port with performance problems and R* didn't gave a crap with support.
Vice City was quite bug free but then GTA SA came and again all R* did was to release a patch to fix some mouse probs. That was it,that was the support we had for past GTAs.

The whole thing changed with GTA IV and MP3,I have never seen Rockstar giving so much attention to the pc platform, multiple patches for both games that actually improved them. These guys aren't EA but let's face it they swim in cash. Now if GTA IV hadn't sold well for PC they wouldn't had bothered with this kind of support just like they did in the past.Heck they even released the Episodes too and the last IV patch was 1.7 in 2010,basically 2 years of constant support.

I dont know, I realise its resources and sandbox have to take into consideration but if you look at draw distant graphics of shop faces, things like the motorbike skins and the outline of all characters, its pretty low res & jaggy. Will hardly take anything away from it, but lets face it *troll mode* would be so much better on PC :)

Was impressed with all the scenery and ambience, there is even one scuba screen there! The lowres\high jagged is because of the consoles.

Anyway, when it comes to PC and it can be moddedm tweaked it will be awesome. Look at what was done with GTA4:

I started using ENB for GTA 4 the other day. I wasn't all that impressed with it tbh, I just see it as a much lighter game with super shiny shiny cars, also it messes up my sky at times, goes all red.

That's photoshopped for sure.

Ah yes I forgot that glaring point too with the DLC's.

ENB can be a bit overrated, I think its the iCEnhancer set-up thats the main one, bit of a GPU burn system killer though.

Really, only RDR got left out.

GTA V will be an amazing game (atleast for consoles), but I'm afraid they will screw up the PC version just like they did with GTA IV. GTA V also has a lot of pontential for MP, if they make it like SA:MP. But that would probably be a bit too expensive for them

I bought GTA 4 on Release Day thinking "What can go wrong, the game has been out for half a year" Boy was I wrong......

I can agree that release day and install of IV was a bit ... performance?? Shadows?? WTF?

It did take them time to get that sorted in a patch, but they did so. If memory serves that was R* Canada who produced the port, im not sure who is or will be responsible this time, I think many were more looking towards R* North due to SA etc to be better trusted for smooth port. I would have thought they would have learned from mistakes on IV release time, well, heres hoping.

You also have to take into account the jump in the engine and also the time it came out of PC rigs and setups, as IV was still pushing it for PC into quads. So I would imagine that being a fixed feature now with physics and just updates to engine, DX10/11 and so on and the standard quad base level PC we shouldn't see that again.
