Hello,
Am wondering if its easy to add a few bots to a server, to make it look populated, then as a real player conntects it takes the place of that bot?

I think the word bots are taboo in BIS forum... as BIS uses more intelligent AIs than pre-scripted bots to run and gun in the mp world. And the AIs are in the mp games depending of course on the type of mp missions you are playing.

so it's easy to add depending on the mp mission you are playing.
eg. pvpscene's A&S has great AIs to fill in while waiting for real players.

Actually IIRC you can just start a mission while filling all slots with AIs in lobby.
Then any joining player can take over the AI in that slot.

Obviously when he disconnects you'll lose that slot.

Ive tried this, but the server player list on the public servers list alaways says,

example

1\50 people online

can Ai or bots, make it look like

15\50 online

then the ai or bot will be replaced with a human player as they join?

To my knowledge server browser doesn't show AI as players in stats so when it comes to that you are out of luck

any playable AI will be a "bot" and can be replaced by a human

I think what he is trying to do is make the server look populated to entice people to join. People are more likely to join a server that has 15/20 slots rather than 1/20 slots.

Anyway, the answer is that you can't - the server browser shows clients connected.

You can't do that and that just makes people pissed off tbh.

Any server I see doing that in the source engine/goldsrc, I immediately blacklist. It's annoying to connect to a server that has "29/32" players to find out it has more like 4/32.
