View Full Version : O2 for public?
Yes to the release of Oxygen. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I can clearly see the view of the one who started the vote... A public release of Oxygen means buggy addons you say?
And why is it that the people who are not modmakers here could not do things just as well as we do? There are alot of skilled modelers out there who did not apply oxygen or did not get it, or doesnt even know about the whole thing. A public release of oxygen is necessary to keep OFP community alive, we here just cannot do enough stuff everyone would want.
I dont see whats wrong in it anyway. Sure there would be buggy addons, hell, there has already been buggy addons released from the modmaker people here. But there also has been good addons. If an addon is buggy/badly done, dont download it. Theres no point not letting the public have oxygen just because there are people there who cannot use it properly. They can never learn if they cannot practice.

Dont be the first who downlods it, see what people say about it before downloading.
Btw. would be nice to hear some reasons why oxygen should not be public...
Im totally with Kegetys here. What says that we all are the best modmakers in the world? We are the BETA testers. Not the unique blessed ones who are better than the rest. Oxygen should be released to the public, though preferably with docs =)
The fact that all addons were to be buggy was one of the big concerns BIS had with letting us lot into the breathe program aswell. And a lot of good modmakers out there are not in the program.
I say we finish off the beta testing and release it when its done. If not, this community will die eventually.

Hmm, I think, it would be better, when all necessary BIStudio tools (suitable for making Add-Ons/MODs: O2light & others) would be available publicly...
For free or for money (as part of any datadisk or special dev_CD - I'm ready to spent some money for these tools, if BIStudio is going to remove that 45-days functionality time-limit)...
Any selection process is not good for community & cannot totally ensure only quality & bug-free work of ModMakers...
As I know, BIStudio have declared that 'Breathe Initiative' for limited group of ModMakers is only temporary solution, therefore I hope, BIStudio will allow everybody (who is interested) in the O*F community to use their tools as soon as possible - of course, this depends on their future commercial activities with current O*F engine...

i agree with wolf. The number one rule in commercial development: never give the customer too many choices. They should include the dev cd with Resistance.
I know exactly what will happen when they release O2 to the public....
there will be 10,000,000 different M16s up for download http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
(judging by what ppl are making now)
LMAO HAHAAA
yes i agree that they put it on the resistance cd but the other tools not even we did not test them thats not good because we want to BETATEST http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Why not give us ModMakers or web-masters of OFP sites the power to give Oxygen to who we think are suitable for it! That way all good modellers will get Oxygen and at the same time we won't see some random dudes getting it

Really though, how fast do you think that O2 would be all over the place if they did that? Sure, lets say for arguments sake, that all the ModMakers only give it to people they think deserve it. But, whos to say they don't give it to the next person "just because". It'll happen, garunteed, might as well just release it publicly.

Well they can use the same protection they're using now, although I don't think it will last long anyway http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I don't care http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
If I finish my mod with guns, vehicles, units made in Oxygen than I can make a campaign and release it togother with my addons (except releasing addons earlier of course)
Let them have it. Anyway even now there are some Oxygen-equipped "addon makers) that are plagiarising other's work and importing models from other games.
We'll have to choose, but what are tags for? (mine's DEA ***http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )

there are always pros and cons on both side and it is hard to decide but I think that it should be release to the public. Yes there will be at first some buggy units but as people start learning O2 better over all quality will start getting better; If you have determination you will succeed because hearing Scorpio and Vixer tell me how complicated it is it will weed out the people with very little determination.

I say release it, well alot of people will make crappy addons but there are thousens of them already. I'll still only download the ones that I think is good.
O2 adds a new dimension to the game. I think that everyone who owns the game should be able to see this dimension as well. I see no reason why only some people should have this privelige.
