Can the game please not clear the settings if you do and just load the settings for the stick or pad. This would be a preferable outcome to the the game deleting them.

Reconfiguring the joystick if you forgot to start with it plugged in is a pain. And a always forget to exit the game and then plugging it in.

Starting the game -> plugging in joystick -> settings deleted.
Start the game -> exit the game -> plug in joystick -> start game -> settings load fine.

Its like this in arma as well. In arma it is annoying, in this game its a dealbreaker.

Always make a copy of your cfg and now that you know it does it, plug your controllers in before playing.
I have had it beaten into me over the years.

Maybe fork out on a USB hub so you don't have to plug and unplug controllers all the time too.

Its about a lack deskspace not of USB ports for me.

And it does not change that it is something they should look in to fixing.

there is no game out there that allows peripherals(gamepads/joysticks) to be connected while game is playing (as the title says).
But i think everyone agrees that the configs would need to be saved

Wrong. GTA4 can do it. (plug in 360 pad and voila)

should have said I know of no game instead of there is no game.
regarding gta4, wonder if plugging a logitech joystick for instance works just as well..
