Manual Spotting

Is there a way to "spot" people manually?

Occasionally it seems I can see someone but my character hasn't spotted him and I would like to manually call it out.
I used to use the Q menu to spot people in Battlefield 2 all the time.


As a follow-up related question:
Is there away to point to a location in first person and mark that location on the map for a team mate?

Target him with binocular at long range for quick "spot"

Does a range finder work too?

Yes, target soldier for a few seconds, and maybe pres right mouse button but im not sure that last with mouse button. In old days in ofp that work, now i think it "spot" enemys automatic after few seconds.

I tired it last night, and you need to press RMB with the binocs.

Actually, you should turn that binding off (reveal = right mouse button) and bind it somewhere else. In multiplayer you rarely want to reveal anything in that fashion, as it's annoying with the associated AI speech. And in SP there are times when you see something you don't want to reveal to your AI squadmates; gives you time to modify their behavior prior to revealing rather than having them blast off prematurely.
