E3 hasn't officially started yet. All those major press releases are from major gaming companies, unfortunately BIS does not fit in that category (yet ;) ). The day before E3 is scheduled for such companies to give big press releases. E3 starts in 6 or so hours (9am PDT?). I'd expect the trailer plus more info to be shared when E3 kicks off.

It's a Merkeva, some have anti missile systems fitted that detonate a missile with similar to a shotgun blast. Needs to be close in to hit it as well, bet the crews cack their pants if ever using one for real.

I see the tanks still don't shudder when firing their main gun still.

Not saying it's the same exactly, but the turret looks like it is. Don't forget that both T-95 and the Commanche have been cancelled. It seems like the game is set in a more alternate reality. Or by 2020 and with a big war raging on all the armies have commisioned cancelled projects of the past, with some changes, along the new ones.

It´s weird. The gun is too long for a merkava, but the hull matches. It could also be a Challenger 2, but certainly no T80/T72 based chassis (those are flat all the way to the front, unless the T-95 uses a completely newly designed chassis with a slanted frontal top glacis, which no pictures I´ve seen so far show). The turret looks like that of an earlier merkava, but is too flat. The optics on top seem to point towards a merkava too.

Maybe it´s like the Hamoc, a completely new design by BIS? Mashup of merkava and russian T-series tanks?

Yep, the chassis, especially the rear is Merkava through and through. Although the Russians aren't shy of a little design copying either.

I'm leaning more toward the Chinese. Just think of the Chengdu J-20 and the F-35.

I think the Super Hokus Pokus (Hamok) and the mashup tank are supposed to be Chinese "designs" ripped off of existing vehicles. :)

There is no muzzleflash, just a bright beam of light. Behind the "shell", the air is wobbling as if disturbed by strong heat waves, but no dust at all is kicked up. Watch the video in full screen and you´ll see it.

I think we´ll see some more fi rather than sci weapons in this game. A bit disappointed not to see actual ingame footage, seeing as BI preferred that over CGI before and even took pride in that.

Hopefully we´ll see new ingame footy too as the show progresses.

If I´d be nitpicky on a science basis, I´d say that´s impossible. Railguns need HUMONGOUS amounts of energy to propel a projectile to any meaningful speed. There´s a reason why the only weaponized railgun designs right now are ship based.

The actual soldiers are obviously real, the helicopters hovering appears ingame/CGI, the footage from inside the helicopter appears ingame, the stuff the guy is viewing through the monocular appears to be CGI.

Also I just want to say the more I look at these pictures the more I get excited, in this picture http://www.zing.cz/gamefiles/filesystem/438/43881.jpg not only does the ragdoll (of the guy in the middle at least :P ) look surprisingly realistic as well as the physics of his falling weapon, but the design of the probablyIranian troops looks AWESOME.

Perhaps the customization will be the same as in Swat 4, giving different advantages. Such as pilot helmet has a built in NVG, comms, etcera but small protection but the tank operator helmet has a better protection but lacking in NVG or such?
This would promote having appropriate gear.

Hopefully we will have the ability to turn it on or off during the mission editing process, or using mission parameters

Kicking them out until they change it if you are playing in a locked server. You can't help it in other servers because you see snipers flying with an A10 in A2:OA anyway.

Those character models look EXACTLY like the ones used in EVE Online! But I guess they have nothing to do with each other...

One thing I noticed is that we have not seen any models from ArmA II except maybe that F35 (although it looks at if it was remodeled from scratch).

This throws up the question to backwards addon compability. Do you guys think there will be a possibility to port offical/fanmade addons from ArmA II to III?

You also have to keep in mind that all those new features like the weapon assembling, changeable clothes and physics all suggest that a major overhaul of ArmA II addons would be mandatory in order to be able to port em to ArmA III succesfully...

I would think the majority of them will still work when ported, the gun makers will probably have the original gun model with working rail and multiple selectable parts for sights etc and it would just be a case of setting them up properly depending on how the sights and other equipment are done.
The same would stand for the vehicles etc as the main model would already be there so it would be all down to config work and maybe some alterations depending on the parts that can be used.

Well the trailer itself is not bad but it doesn't "fit" with BIS history.
Maybe the game is just not ready yet to offer a proper ingame trailer but you can't go to the biggest video games expo with only a bunch of pics.

The slightly futuristic style is something to get used to for us realism nuts, but its not massively futuristic and im sure awesome gameplay will have us by the cojones so it will be totally ok. Also, we can create addons as before if we want to change something. Best game ever. Untouchable.

Arma 3 looks absolutely amazing... Conventional warefare with a laser or two --> the best of both worlds :D
Screw A3 though, TOH is the real star of the show... ;)
