View Full Version : Fireplaces put out while raining
Commonplace

Hello,
at the moment if you place a fireplace in the editor and let it burn,
it does even burn while it's raining, disregarding the rain drops.
It would be nice if the fire is going out then, this would make the game more playable.

this would make the game at least playable.
Eh, right...

Sarcasm ahead ?
The point is good. But the last statement falls into community level.
Depends on how big/ well developed the fire is. Camp fires can survive rain.

Irl most fires the size of the campfire object or bigger in the editor don't get put out by rain (unless it's like a torrential storm), common misconception ;)
I sense flaming to come :shine:

This is the real reason why they added PhysX.

Yeah, most rain on a camp fire just causes more smoke than anything, but the fire will still go on until neglected.

I agree.
The future of Arma lies in this feature....
I really hope this post does not get as much hate as my leveling post.....
This idea I personally only add if there was extra time. Other wise there are more important things at hand. Yes this would make the game more realistic. As it is a SIM I don't see why so many would be against it... No it is not a priority...

I really doubt this feature has any use; as I already stated, rain doesn't put out campfires unless they're left unattended for a long time but this ain't exactly a boyscout simulator, I mean the player isn't gonna go and collect wood to start a fire in a game and the only thing it would affect is if someone is trying to light a fire, wet kindling doesn't light :j:
A little extra smoke and flickering would be kinda cool. Not exactly high priority, obviously, but it could be one of those little things that create an atmosphere.

Outerra fires go out when rain falls on them, ergo, BI MUST DO THIS!!!!!111
Also, zombies, 19C cavalry, spaceships etc etc

This effect can already be achieved with a simple 5 minute addon. Why make a thread about it here?
i guess the topic starter has never been out in the nature. making camp fires.
i like to be out in the nature. i been making camp fires in rainy weather. snowy weather. but never has any of the fires be put out by some rain.
the problem isnt getting the fire put out when its raining. but getting it started. since you have to look all over the place for some suitable dry wood. :)

I think I need to start eating more meals in the day. My damage is brained.
I think people are missing the point here. to me this seemed obviously sarcastic. I think the OP is mocking people who post threads saying "BIS must add this" or "BIS must do that" when talking about small, generally useless gameplay wise, tweaks such as the ragdoll argument or the women soldier argument. I agree that BIs efforts are better spent improveing core functionality.
The OP was a troll who created duplicate accounts to have conversations with himself.

Perhaps given the nature of the OP of this thread and the absurdity of his topic and starting post that this thread should be locked, then soaked in a bucket of water, stirred with a stick, then soaked again.....then Smokey the Bear can take a dirty great big shit on it.
Sorry mate, i too had a suggestion to see the leaves fall off when you hit the tree - didn't happen. I now go to Minecraft for leaf realism ;)
