I was checking out abandonware on wikipedia and happens to bump into this. Apparently full spectrum warrior has been released as freeware by THQ.

Anyone played with this yet? If not might want to check it out. I am hoping it's good as it uses Havok engine.

I really liked it back then as it feels quite intense at times when you are under fire, throw smokes to get out while a second team supresses the enemy.

Yet it also can make you rage like when your fireteam leans against a wall and refuses to fire at a enemy who suddently runs aroudn the corner... instead they all get killed one by one instead of shooting back.

Yet it definatly is worth a try if you can live with little flaws and not so well aged gfx as the atmosphere makes up for it.

A nice idea for a game, but unfortunately after playing it for a while you realize that there is no emergent gameplay whatsoever. Everything is so tightly scripted that you soon feel like you're just zeroing in on a fixed series of "correct" commands in order to get through a mission. Once you've found the ideal sequence, you've won. Of course there are occasionally multiple sequences, and at times they are less rigid than others, but the fact remains: zero emergent gameplay.
