Hi, I am brand new here. I have just bought Arma 2 and I was wondering why in the mission editor I cannot have both islands together on the one map. Please enlighten me if this is the new feature, but I do recall in Arma: Armed Assualt you were able to have Sahrani, Ramadi ect... all together in the editor.

Why cant you do this in Arma 2?

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong spot!

I don't believe you were ever able to combine maps. You may be thinking of campaigns, where separate islands are loaded in between missions.

You can not combine islands in the mission editor. You also were not able to do that in ArmA nor in OFP.

Islands are hardcoded and can't be modified. In ArmA1 you had both islands on one map because Rahmadi island was part of the Sahrani map.

Thats interesting, becuase I was playing Arma 1 at a friends place the other day, and in the editor you were able to view all the islands. Before you started, you selected the map you wanted, i.e. Sahrani, and then zoomed out and you could see and build on all the islands...for example:

We built an air base om Ramadi and flew to the main island for an operation.

EDIT: Oh...okay. Its just a shame becuase I there isnt any Island vs Island stlye of map.

For Armed Assault, this island pack has a ton of islands where you can do island vs islands,
as there is an island that has 3 of the OFP islands on one map in there:

also there is Arma2 islands:

In this section there are several maps that have water between the islands, one I can think of
where u can do island vs island is maybe isla dula, there are others.

then theres islands for OA as well:

I believe your post belongs in the general section:
