I'm having no joy extracting PBOs with cPBO. I'm running Win7 64bit with the latest version of Arma2 CO and cPBO which was downloaded off the authors site. It can create PBOs fine though...

Any ideas?

When you've executed cPBO for the first once, have you done it with "Run as Administrator" ? If not, try it.

If you've done it as admin, do you get some error message ?

Alright just ran it as Admin, still no dice. But it is working on some level as it can still create PBO's.

No idea. I suppose it's not a big deal as I'm just using PboView for now. If there is a solution out there, that would also be awesome.

Cheers

When you try to launch a pbo, it launchs the game ? Does the pbo files have the arma2 icon ?

If yes, you've got to remove the pbo assoc and run again cPBO

Hi Tank,

I had EXACTLY the same problem (in XP).
I had to remove cPbo, then do a regedit and delete all the references to .pbo.
Reinstalled (ran cPbo.exe and selected the assoc) and hey presto all good.
Found this solution on this site somewhere.

Big thread about this issue HERE (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=103995)

You have to get rid of the current associations for .pbo (DOTPBO) in the registry - there will probably be two...

run a regedit search for .pbo - delete the entries you find - reboot...
right click Cpbo (run as admin) - say yes to the "associate with pbo files" offer
reboot again (important)

Then - doubleclicking a .pbo should extract it to a folder of the same name at the same location - right clicking any folder gives you the "make pbo" option... fast and easy - a personal weapon of choice...

Tom48 97's right - if you still see the Arma2 icon for .pbo files - you still have the old association - once you've done it properly all pbo files will have a little "pbo" icon...

You can just run cpbo from the command line.

Start/run cmd in XP, if you don't have Start/run in Vista or Windows 7 you can change that:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-run-command-on-windows-vista-start-menu/

But since "Command prompt here" is built into Windows 7 it's easier to just right click on the folder containing your .pbo and select "Command prompt here", then type cpbo -e my.pbo, where my.pbo is the name of the .pbo you wish to extract. This prevents you from having to navigate to the folder using the cd command.

"Command prompt here" is available in Power Toys for XP or you can add it to the registry yourself (Google).

Of course if you desire something with a GUI frontend then try Eliteness:

On a side note it is recommended that you sign any .pbos you make, this prevents people from cheating with their own scripts on the server when the server is setup properly.
